Hull is putting itself in the shop window once again with a special cultural event.

Hull Fashion Week’s (April 4-11) activities are helping to ready the city for two years’ time when it becomes the City of Culture.

The event is moving towards Saturday’s finale, which will bring six catwalks, a retro clothes market and a clothes exchange to City Hall.

Last year’s corresponding showpiece saw over 2,000 attendees. The week’s sixth edition will see over 70 companies and several venues participate over the week.

East Yorkshire’s colleges and schools are being invited to take part in a contest for young designers, with a Hull maritime history theme. Judges want the successful design to be appropriate for a special awards ceremony.

Adam Clark, Fashion Week organiser, said that Hull’s culture continues to prosper ahead of 2017 and added that the city’s fashion is “brimming” right now.

Mr Clark said that this “massive” week will give city shops a chance to show what they are capable of.
