Hull to host Rod Stewart gig

Rock star Rod Stewart is set to perform in Hull next year, it has been announced.

And some of the proceeds from June’s KC Stadium gig will benefit local good causes, it has been revealed.

The man behind bringing “Rod the Mod” to Hull is local businessman David Kilburn, executive chairman of building supplies company MKM and a lifelong fan of the star, who will 71 by the time the concert goes ahead on June 14.

Tickets will be available to fan club members from Wednesday (September 30) before going on general sale from 9am on Friday October 2.

Some of the proceeds from the event will be split between the Holy Trinity Church restoration fund and the Daisy Appeal, which buys equipment for local hospitals.

The concert will be the first hosted by the KC Stadium since boyband JLS performed there four years ago.

Rod Stewart has sold more than 100 million records around the world during a career that has spanned six decades. He has had more than 60 UK hit singles, including six number ones.
