This year’s festival is hoping members of the public will want to get involved.

Hull’s freedom festival’s hoping to recruit hundreds of local people to play an active role in this year’s celebrations.

With only 10 weeks left to go, they’re now hoping people will get involved with the opening night and headliner shows across the first weekend of September.

Jenny Coombes, Executive Director, Freedom Festival Trust said:

“Freedom Festival belongs to the city and the people of Hull; there’s a sense of ownership and pride that means the festival isn’t just about staging the biggest acts, it’s about everyone feeling part of it. Over the last few years, we’ve aimed to increase the number of participatory events that give the audience the chance to be the festival, rather than simply attend.”
