Recent figures show the number of visitors has reached a 17 year high!

Hull‘s museums and galleries have topped half a million visitors, which is a 17 year high for the city.

Around 505,000 people visited the free cultural venues in 2014/15, showing a 4.2 percent rise from the previous year.

Councillor Terry Geraghty, Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure has welcomed the figures, says:

“This increase and 17 year high is fantastic news. We now need to build on this and focus on creating and attracting the right events and exhibitions to keep people coming back for more, especially in the run up to 2017.

“The museums and art gallery are a credit to the city and we are proud of our cultural offer.

“The attractions are enjoyed not only by the people of Hull but by visitors alike and it is great to see another increase in visitor’s figures.”

He continued to by saying this performance reflects the teams hard work in creating a varied and spectacular programme of events, exhibits and collections across the venues.
