Humberside Police is among the best in the country for bringing rapists to justice, new research shows.

The force has the highest ratio nationally for charging and summoning offenders to court for the rape of a child, according to a HMIC report by the Rape Monitoring Group outlining rape data for England and Wales.

It also has one of the best rates – 7th highest in the country – for charging and summoning offenders to court for adult rape offenders.

Superintendent Dave Hall welcomes the latest report, which brings together all the figures for rape across the Humberside Police force area.

While the increased figure in recorded rapes indicates more victims are willing to come forward and report their crimes, he acknowledges rape continues to be under reported.

He wants victims to have the confidence the force will investigate thoroughly and treat them with the care and sensitivity they deserve.

Humberside Police works closely with CASA (Care After Sexual Assault) which is available to all victims of sexual assaults and rape. It offers emotional and practical support in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment, while victims do not have to make a report to the police to access the service.
