Hundreds of East Yorkshire residents are opposing plans for over 100 properties to be built in their pretty village.

Gladman Developments hope to construct the 119 homes to address South Cave’s needs.

But protestors claim that the new development would run side-by-side to the village’s stretch of the famous Wolds Way walking attraction.

Over 600 South Cave residents – or more than 10% of the population – have officially complained about the proposals next to Little Wold Lane.

South Cave’s parish councillors are supporting the villagers’ objections, claiming the development would “harm” the landscape. It is also feared that congestion and flooding risks will escalate.

Consultations over the plan, which would include a play facility, landscaping and access roads, are due to end a week on Tuesday (April 7).

Save Our Valley, the local campaign body managing the protest effort, said such building would severely affect the area’s views.
