An exhibition led by celebrated photojournalist Lee Karen Stow that captures the experiences of women affected by conflict is opening in Hull this weekend.

The I Remember exhibition at Hull Central Library features 17 portraits of women whose lives have been touched by war.

Among the contributors are women with strong memories of the Second World War and others from countries including Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Iraq.

The exhibition also features poetry by the women written in English, Arabic and Oroma, and a soundtrack of them reciting their own poems makes up part of the thought-provoking experience.

I Remember, funded by the James Reckitt Library Trust, opens tomorrow and runs until November 30 in The Space section of Hull Central Library.
