Thieves used a JCB to remove a cashpoint from the wall of an East Yorkshire village’s bank.

The raid, which happened early on Friday morning, brought disruption to South Cave traffic flow with some roads forced shut.

Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses following the HSBC raid, which was reported to them at around 3am.

The JCB helped smash the cash machine before removing it off the wall, damaging the Market Place-based bank in the process. Thieves then transported the cash dispenser away.

Police put diversions and street closures in place in the vicinity.

Investigators want anybody who may have knowledge of the crime, or the vehicles or people involved, to contact them.

They can either ring 0800 555111 to get through to Crimestoppers or ring the police’s non-emergency number of 101.

Witnesses choosing the latter option can refer to the log number 43 from February 27.
