KC has announced the locations across Hull and East Yorkshire where its superfast fibre broadband service will become available during the next 12 months.

Between April 2015 and March 2016 more than 15,000 properties across west and east Hull and in Brough, Ferriby, Melton, Cottingham and Beverley will be able to connect to KC’s Lightstream service.

The superfast service is already available to more than 45,000 homes and businesses across the region, in areas including Greatfield estate, Victoria Dock, Kingswood, Newland Avenue, Hessle and Swanland.

More than 12,000 homes and businesses are already connected to the service, which offers guaranteed download speeds including 100Mbps.

Details of the streets where Lightstream will be installed during the next year can be found on KC’s website.

Sue Helmont, KC’s director of consumer services, said: “We’re delighted to announce our plans to make Lightstream available to thousands more of our customers during the next year.

“We’re seeing demand for superfast broadband grow as households spend more time online using services like YouView, and as the number of internet-connected devices in homes increases.

“We want our customers to have the best-connected homes and businesses in the UK, and our continued investment in Lightstream is all about achieving just that.”

Lightstream is currently being installed in streets around Howdale Road in east Hull, Beverley High Road in north Hull and Princes Avenue in west Hull.

Residents can find out more about where Lightstream is being installed this year and check if it is already available in their postcode area at www.kc.co.uk/superfast
