Kind-hearted KC employees have donated over 200 toiletry items to local charity Emmaus Hull following a recent collection.

The items were handed over to the charity, which offers more than just a bed for the night to people who have been affected by homelessness or social exclusion.

Emmaus Hull offers homeless people accommodation, meaningful work and an opportunity to rebuild their lives at its Orchard facility on Lockwood Street in the city. The Orchard also has a second-hand furniture shop and a cafe which is open to the public.

Brendon Smurthwaite, KC’s community coordinator, said: “We organise a charity collection across our Hull offices each February and this year decided to do it on behalf of Emmaus Hull.

“They do some tremendous work and it was great to see our people give so generously to a very worthy cause. It’s always nice to be able to make a difference and hopefully we’ve done that through this collection.”

Dawn Binns, community manager at Emmaus Hull, added: “We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to KC employees for their kindness, generosity and all of the time and effort that went into organising this collection. Our companions are working hard to turn their lives around and thoughtfulness like this makes a world of difference to them.

“Everyone is welcome to pop in, have a cuppa in our Apple Tree cafe and browse in the furniture showroom so I’d encourage people to come along and say hello.”
