KC is supporting the Hull and East Riding Disability Sports Awards in 2016 as an award sponsor for a third consecutive year.

The inaugural awards were held in 2014 and the event has grown significantly with more than 300 people expected to turn out to celebrate the achievements of those involved in local disability sport.

KC sponsored the ‘Coach of the Year’ award in 2014 and 2015 and will do so again at this year’s event which is being held at the KC Stadium on Friday 20 May.

Brendon Smurthwaite, KC’s Community Coordinator, said: “The disability sport community in Hull is growing all the time and the awards evening helps to recognise the athletes and volunteers who are making that happen. Daryl Jones, the chairman of Wheelchair Sports Hull, and his team of helpers work incredibly hard to promote and support disability sport in the region.

“The event is a real credit to them and it’s great that there’ll be such a large turnout there this year to share in some amazing achievements. We’re delighted to be involved, alongside other local businesses, and are really looking forward to it.”

Hull is one of just three cities in the UK to hold its own Disability Sports Awards. As well as celebrating the achievements of disabled sports athletes, the evening also offers a chance to pay tribute to the unsung heroes who support the disability sports community in Hull.

There are 16 awards up for grabs on the night and tickets for the event are priced at £30 adults and £26 concessions.

They are available via email at awards@wheelchairsportshull.co.uk
