The Lord Mayor of Hull has opened a brand new shop in Hull City Centre for the Leather Repair Company, which is located on South Street and open for locals to take their leather items, handbags, jackets and accessories into the shop for repair and re-colouring.

The Lord Mayor celebrated the investment in Hull and welcomed the Leather Repair Company’s new venture into the community. She said: “I consider myself very fortunate as First Citizen to represent such a vibrant City with a fine reputation, historic traditions and with the continuous regeneration that is becoming more visible each year. It is extremely important to support new businesses in Hull and I would like to wish the Leather Repair Company the very best of luck.”

Richard Hutchins was delighted with the launch, he said: “On Saturday we had a continuous flow of new customers throughout the day, which was a great start.”

“We knew there was demand for a retail shop and I hope to encourage other businesses to invest in the city centre. South Street is vibrant and people are supporting local, buying from the fresh fish shop and the fruit and veg shop opposite us. We plan to play an active roll and integrate with the other businesses.”

With two factory sites already based in Hull, Richard Hutchins and his wife Carolynne have a vision for their company to become a household name – a leather repair kit for every home.
