Hull’s Olympic golden boy Luke Campbell will be joined by two former stars of the England cricket team to help Haltemprice Lions Club raise funds for two good causes.

Luke will line up with Geoff Miller and Chris Cowdrey for a dinner which will take place in the Pavilion Suite, Lazaat Hotel, Cottingham, on Thursday, November 12.

The event is in support of the Luke Campbell Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Luke’s Foundation was set up by the boxer to help young people achieve their potential and lead positive lives. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is raising funds to provide equipment for patients who are being treated for the disease in Hull Royal Infirmary.

Tickets for the dinner are priced at £38 each, with tables of 10 available for £350. Haltemprice Lions are being supported by Yorkshire Bank in staging the event and are also appealing for further sponsorship and donations of prizes to ensure as much of the money raised as possible goes to the charity.

Geoff Miller played 34 Test matches and 25 one-day internationals for England between 1976 and 1984 and was recognised as an all-rounder. He later became a selector for the national side and has also built a reputation as an entertaining after-dinner speaker.

Chris Cowdrey is also a popular speaker. A member of a famous cricket family, he played six Tests for England including one as captain against the West Indies at Headingley in 1988.
