The luxury interior fit out, design and manufacturing company B Batch Group has been operating in Hull since 1946, yet the name is better known to companies in London and around the globe than it is locally.

Until now B Batch has focussed its attention on the national and international export market, growing to become a multi-million pound turnover company, with a client list of major fashion brands. The owners are now setting their sights closer to home to reach into the Hull and Humber region, supplying bespoke interiors and manufacture, for shop fit-outs and commercial interiors.

B Batch is a successful third generation family run business, established in 1946 by Bernard Batch which today is run by Tristan Batch, Bernard’s son who owns and manages the business and Lucy his daughter, is the Marketing Director.

The business has grown organically over the past 69 years by investing in training and development to promote from within. Commercial Director, Leon McQuade started his career as apprentice joiner in 1996 and has grown with the company, seeing it launch into the international market.

The Company now has plans to penetrate the local market, supplying bespoke manufacture, interior fit out and specialist shop fitting to local businesses including retail outlets, office and industrial buildings, hotels and restaurants.

Tristan Batch says:

“Our works have always taken us outside of the Hull and Humber region and now we also want to showcase what is going on in Hull. With all of the excitement surrounding the City of Culture celebrations and the Energy Estuary we can also play an integral role in the City’s sustainability.”

“We are fortunate to succeed in winning tenders to fit out stores around the world for major brands.  We are in a strong position within the export market and I believe that as a company we are in a great position to shout about the quality of work that is going on here but hope to make connections with new clients closer to home at the same time.”

“This business is very exciting and although it is highly competitive, we pride ourselves on our attention to detail and quality, and the way we work usually means our clients come back to us again and again. We work with designers who approach us with an idea or a basic concept and we work hard to transform the vision into stunning spaces that work in the real world.’’

“Our growth strategy has included major investment in new machinery and equipment at our head quarters in West Hull and we have also restructured internally to expand our team.”

Leon McQuade, Commercial Director says:

“We talk about our Made in Hull campaign because we are proud of our heritage and the talent of local trades in Hull and the Humber region. Everything we manufacture for clients from London to the Middle East is made using our teams of specialist joiners and locally sourced suppliers to assist. Last year we shipped in Onyx from Afghanistan and used it in the manufacture process, and then shipped the finished product to our client in New York.

In every eventuality, we source the components, bring them to our premises in Hull, manufacture them using local labour and local suppliers and then transport them using local shipping companies to our clients across the globe’’.

“Although the export side of the business is expanding, our main business is fast-track interior fit outs and the origins of the company is shop fitting. We work with retail brands, commercial clients, bars, restaurants and industrial plants in the fit out of new premises throughout the UK, Europe, America and the Middle East, we are bringing our skill set back home to work locally on some of the major developments in the Hull and Humber region.’’

‘’To help us integrate with local businesses, we have joined the Bondholders and also work very closely with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and MAS to demonstrate to local business owners the opportunities that are currently available in export.”
