A man is to appear in court this morning in connection with a violent burglary in Bridlington over the weekend.

Luke Walton, 25, is charged with burglary with violence, possession of a class B drug, and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Shortly after 10.45pm on February 27, Humberside Police were contacted by a woman reporting she had just been assaulted by an intruder who she confronted in her kitchen on Kingsgate.

Officers had previously received a call reporting two men and a woman pushing a moped along the road, who appeared to be very drunk.

A search of the area found a man who matched the same description as the alleged intruder who assaulted the woman in her home. A second man and a woman were also found close by with a moped.

All three were initially arrested on suspicion of burglary. Mr Walton will appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court.
