Humberside Police has arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to last weekend’s shooting at St Andrew’s Quay.

A second man, 24-year-old Liam Windass, is wanted in connection with the same incident, during which a gun was fired at a blue Volkswagen Golf outside McDonald’s at the Hull retail complex on Saturday morning. No-one was hurt in the incident.

Humberside Police has issued details of Liam Windass, of Rosedale Grove,  who is described as being 5ft 8ins tall, with short straight hair and has a scar to his left eye.

Officers believe he could be armed and dangerous and anyone who knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact the police immediately on emergency number 999, quoting log number 160 of 2/1/16.

Superintendent Darren Downs said: “Today we have released the name and photograph of one outstanding man we would like to speak to in connection with a firearms incident at McDonald’s restaurant on Saturday.

“Live ammunition was fired towards a vehicle parked in the car park of a busy McDonald’s on Saturday, January 2nd, whilst a large number of people were dining.

“Four rounds of ammunition are known to have hit the car causing damage to the car but the passengers were miraculously unharmed.

“We strongly suspect Liam is being harboured, I would like to remind these people who are misguidedly protecting him, harbouring is a criminal offence and you too will also be dealt with.

“We would like to thank the local community and all those who have rung us to offer information. The level of pressure being put on the first man in custody, his family and associates has resulted in the first arrest.

“Please keep the information coming in, we have one in custody on attempted murder using a firearm. Officers are homing in on him now, it is just a matter of time. I would suggest to Liam Windass to hand himself in before we come and get you.”
