Driffield’s new library and customer service unit is now officially open.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s vice-chairman John Dennis unveiled the £800,000 centre this week.

He cut the ribbon at the Cross Hill-based amenity, which will also act as a council registration facility.

Council leader Stephen Parnaby said: “This exciting new centre is the latest multi-service centre to be developed in key towns across the East Riding and is part of this council’s drive to lower running costs while seeking to improve access to services.”

Cllr Parnaby OBE added: “I have no doubt it will prove popular in Driffield and we are already welcoming customers new and old across a wide range of services.”

The centre, housed in a refurbished building, offers more flexibility for council taxpayers.

It allows them to undertake various transactions when they wish. The centre also offers them the chance of accessing data through self-service public terminals.
