Hull-based charity Preston Road Women’s Centre says it has too many staff and clients to fit in their current home and subsequently needs to move in to a larger centre.

The charity, which offers training courses and domestic violence and abuse services for women, has launched a new fundraising campaign in the hope of raising £150,000 to find a new headquarters.

Centre co-ordinator Ann Clarkson said: “The premises just isn’t big enough for us any more. Our services are growing, the number of women and children that we’re supporting is growing. Consequently our staff team is growing. We’ve just outgrown it now.

“We’d be able to reach more women because we’ll be able to see more people in the centre. We’d be able to support the local community better because we’d be able to offer a wider range of facilities.

“There’d be much more room and a much more comfortable space for us to work in and for the service users that we deal with. We’ve also identified that we need a much bigger space for our nursery, so we’ve made a much bigger plan for that and obviously it’s purpose-built.”
