People in the East Riding will soon have better access to sexual health services.

The City Healthcare Partnership has announced plans for more clinics- including a service hub in Beverley, and new venues in Withernsea, Hornsea and Pocklington.

Head of Sexual and Public Health Services Charles Bridgeman says they want to reach out to more middle aged people:

“There is a bit of a stereotype that is placed upon people who are maybe recently divorced or into new relationships for the first time in a long while. It’s about educating them around what the choices are and the services that we offer are obviously tailored with that in mind.”

He says they want to be accessible to all age groups:

“Anybody and everyone has the opportunity to access our services and we’ll make sure that what we offer is appropriate to those client groups. Whether you’re young or old, male or female, there are certainly plenty of opportunities to access appropriate care within our clinics and our outreach settings.”

Charles says they’re working to make their services more easy to access:

“STI’s such as chlamydia, we’re looking at trying to provide them with better screening opportunities through normal clinics but also through text. So people can get access to the self-care they need and put their mind at rest.”
