An East Yorkshire non-league football team is available to buy just 19 days after enjoying possibly its finest hour.

North Ferriby United’s players won a thrilling FA Trophy final at Wembley last month, beating Wrexham in a penalty shoot-out.

Steve and Eman Forster put the club up to buy 17 months after buying it.

Ms Forster, whose father is Assem Allam, the Hull City owner, said she felt they had taken Conference North side North Ferriby as far as they could take them.

She said they originally took over in the hope of relieving United’s financial burden and bringing some stability to the club.

Ms Forster said that manager Billy Heath’s Wembley success in particular vindicated their investment.

Their departure will free them to pursue “other interests”, she added.

The Villagers currently occupy 12th position in the table. United’s Wembley penalty success came after the sides finished extra-time all-square at 3-3.
