More than 7,000 rugby league fans have watched an online broadcast of the recent friendly between Hull FC and Hull KR.

Some 7,672 people (as of 2.15pm on Wednesday, February 27) – including some from as far afield as Mexico, Vietnam Iraq and American Samoa – have viewed coverage of Sunday’s pre-season encounter, which saw Hull FC beat city rivals Hull KR 60-20 at the KC Stadium to win the Clive Sullivan Trophy.

The two clubs, communications provider KC, video production firm Eon Media and sports marketing agency Pro Sports Marketing teamed up to provide online coverage of the match shortly after the final whistle.

Aside from the full match coverage, rugby league fans have been able to feast on a plethora of video footage around the game, including highlights and player and coach interviews.

This is the second year that KC has broadcast the traditional pre-season fixture and Sue Helmont, KC’s director of consumer, was once again pleased by its popularity.

She said: “I’m delighted that, for the second year, we’ve been able to offer rugby league fans the opportunity to watch the match shortly after the final whistle.

“The viewing figures have exceeded our expectations, like they did last year, and we’re pleased to give people who couldn’t attend the match the opportunity to watch the action.

“The game is still available to watch on KC Sport together with a collection of highlights. Why not give this footage a view if you’ve not already done so.

“As always, we’re looking forward to working with Hull FC and Hull KR in the future to produce more local sport-themed video content.”

Don’t forget full coverage and highlights of the match are still available to watch for free.
