Four men and a woman have been arrested after police discovered a cannabis factory in Beverley.

Two police officers were walking in Holderness Crescent when they smelled cannabis and knocked on the door of a property.

The Beverley and Driffield Neighbourhood Policing Team officers detected an even stronger smell when an occupant opened the door.

When they went inside they found a large quantity of cannabis as well as money in a safe.

As a result of the find, police arrested four men aged 52, 48, 41 and 18 and a woman, 46, on suspicion of money laundering and growing cannabis.

All five have since been released on bail while the police investigation continues.

Humberside Police want anyone with any information on drugs activity or who thinks they can smell cannabis to contact them on the 101 non-emergency number or by ringing Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Information can be left anonymously.
