Humberside Police are to hold a full police funeral on Wednesday for PC Russ Wylie, who was killed in a crash while on patrol on his motorbike earlier this month.

The 28-year-old roads policing officer, based at Melton, was badly hurt when his bike was collided with a car on the B1362 Daisy Hill Road in Burstwick on 13 April and sadly died in Hull Royal Infirmary the next day.

His funeral will be at Haltemprice Crematorium in Willerby, near Hull.

In a statement his fiancée and parents described their loss as “immeasurable”. They said he was warm and caring and it was only after his death that they realised just how respected he was.

They intend to send donations to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and thanked its staff for their efforts on the day of the accident.

The start of the funeral cortege will be in the village of Tetney to the south east of Grimsby and it will stop for a brief period at Grimsby Police Station, where Humberside Police officers and staff will pay their respects to their colleague.
