Humberside Police has identified the two men responsible for the St Andrew’s Quay shooting at the weekend but its officers are still searching for them.

Three people were arrested on Sunday night during police searches after a gun was fired at a blue Volkswagen Golf outside McDonald’s at the shopping centre on Saturday morning.

Superintendent Darren Downs said: “It’s always worrying that any shooting would take place in a public environment. But what I would say is that the two vehicles were very close to each other, no more than about six metres apart when the actual weapons were discharged, so there was possibly nobody else that was going to be in any danger as a result of that shooting.”

Supt Downs revealed the force is working around the clock to bring the shooters to justice.

He added: “We’re trying to track them down every minute of every day and we’re going to cause as much disruption to their lives as we can, calling on all family members, friends and associates, to get them into custody or until they hand themselves in. If we find anybody assisting them, then they’ll come into custody as well.

“The two individuals responsible are still outstanding and we’re still trying to locate them, but I’m confident they’re not going to be walking the streets with a weapon on them, because the last thing they’d want is to get caught by us.

“It is an isolated incident between two groups of individuals. We don’t believe, at this moment, there’s any further danger to anybody.”
