Police are appealing for the victim of an assault in Beverley to contact them.

The assault, which took place shortly after midnight on 31 January, could have left the unidentified man with serious injuries.

Witnesses claim the victim spoke with a Newcastle or north-eastern accent and had a plaster cast on his foot and lower leg.

Detective Constable Tony Forbes, of Beverley Police Station, believes the man could have been staying in a bed and breakfast or a hotel in the town centre.

He is urging landlords and hoteliers to think back to guests staying with them around the time of the incident.

Anyone who can help identify the victim or who has information about the assault is asked to get in touch with the police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference CS/2094922/2015.
