Hull and East Yorkshire residents and businesses can now access information about the region’s emerging renewable energy sector.

Green Port Hull has opened a new hub at The Central Library, which will provide information on job opportunities and other information relating to Siemens’ wind turbine facility and industry developments.

Bob Ferraby, Green Port Growth Programme’s skills and development lead, said: “Everyone wants to know about the Green Port Hull developments and the employment opportunities available.

“The Hub will bring everything together under one roof and we expect that it will draw a good amount of interest.

“As a city we are always facing increasing challenges within the jobs market, however with the launch of the Pathways to Employment programme we are working even harder towards improving the skillset of the local workforce and ensuring the public are able to full access the many new employment opportunities that will become available.

“This project will be delivered by a local training provider through collaborative working across the council, Jobcentre Plus and Siemens, helping to bridge the skills gap and support long-term unemployed people back in to work.”

The hub opening hours:

Monday: 9.30am-5pm
Tuesday: 9.30am-5pm
Wednesday: 1pm-7.30pm
Thursday: 9.30am-7.30pm
Friday: 9.30am-1pm
Saturday: 10am-4pm
