Police officers searching for missing Bridlington man Damion Vernon say they will turn their attention to the River Calder in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on Wednesday.

Humberside Police are concerned for the safety of the 32-year-old father-of-two, as he has not been seen since Monday December 8.

His car was found on Sycamore Street in Wakefield but despite appeals for information they have not yet been able to locate him.

He is described as white, six feet tall, slim and has short brown hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a light brown body-warmer with grey sleeves and hood and dark blue jeans.

The man in charge of the search, Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Baldwin, says it is possible that Mr Vernon may have entered the river and police have decided to search close to where he was last spotted in Wakefield.

Police divers will start to scour the waterway on Wednesday, Det Ch Insp Baldwin says.

Anyone with any information of Mr Vernon’s location should contact Humberside Police on 101.
