East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Walking for Health scheme is in search of more people to lead walks.

It needs locals with a few hours to spare to take groups of people out walking in the region and says all leaders will be fully trained and insured.

One-day training courses are free and the next one is scheduled for Monday February 16 at Cottingham Civic Hall. Registration is from 9.15am and the course will finish at 3.30pm.

There are currently 18 different walks around the East Riding area for experienced walkers and new starters alike. They can be as short as half an hour long but some routes can take two hours to complete.

To find out more about how to volunteer, contact Jennifer Lonsdale, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council healthy lifestyles development officer, on 01482 392527.
