Siemens has begun looking for staff in Hull in the first phase of a recruitment operation that will eventually see 1,000 people employed in the city.

The 14 jobs are said to be in the “vanguard” phase of recruitment and are split between six land-based stores jobs and eight offshore wind turbine commissioning positions.

Finbarr Dowling, the project director in charge of Siemens Hull, has told city residents that the 14 jobs show that the company is really getting geared up in Hull with more jobs to follow in the new year and into 2016.

The company is looking to hire one stores manager and five stores operatives to provide support to Siemens projects across the UK from an interim warehouse facility in Hull.

The workers will then be transferred to the permanent Alexandra Dock facility.

In addition to this, eight offshore wind turbine commissioning technicians will be hired with a view to bringing turbines into operation in the UK and Europe.
