Multi-national company Siemens has advertised nearly a third of the roles it intends to bring to its new facilities in Hull.

Over 100 of the 300 positions it has publicised for its under-development Alexandra Dock blade-making plant were advertised this week. The plant will build blades for the wind turbine industry.

The local press and Siemens’ own website advertised 75 production operative posts including roles for t eam leaders, shift managers and quality control.

The firm has already recruited around 100 local people, including some filling project management positions.

Finbarr Dowling, project director for Siemens’ Hull operation, said: “The recruitment process is now well and truly in full swing, with almost a third of all the jobs that will be available having been advertised.

“We have filled all the senior management positions, in the blade factory and associated facilities, as well as many of the middle management and team lead roles. Recruitment of the production workforce is also now well under way.

“We continue to be delighted with the excellent quality of candidates and appointments, the vast majority of whom are local.”
