Hull residents are being encouraged to sign up to the collective Energy Switch scheme.

Households in the city could save an average of £144 per annum on their fuel bills by joining the fourth round of the scheme.

More than 84% of the 5,000 who joined in the previous round got cheaper energy deals.

Residents interested in the scheme have until Monday, October 13, to register their interest.

An auction will then be held with energy providers the following day.

By around the end of October, households who signed up will get a offer – via email or post – based on their energy usage.

Then they have until Monday, November 24, to choose whether to accept the winning supplier’s offer.

The Energy Switch scheme lets communities across the UK to join up to buy energy together, at a cheaper rate with the average national savings estimated at £177 a year.

People who have previously been involved in the scheme but whose contracts are now coming to an end can also re-register.

Households with dual fuel, single fuel and energy metres are all eligible to apply.

For more information go online at, call 01482 300 300 or visit a Hull City Council customer service centre.

Residents who sign up do not commit themselves to switching when registering.
