HullBID’s Yum! Festival of Food and Drink is back for another year and this time it’s even tastier.

Yum! brings together local and national food producers and vendors. They set up shop around the Rose Bowl Fountain in Queen’s Gardens for one big celebration of all things delicious.

Today and tomorrow there are over 85 stalls offering their yummy bites and delights. We spoke with Catherine Goble, Marketing and Events Coordinator, to find out more about this mouth-watering event.

“We’ve doubled in size this year, expanding into Queen’s Gardens. This gives us a much larger area to play with,” she enthuses. “We have a huge children’s section, bar and seating area, as well as more stalls selling some of the best food and drink out there.”

The family-friendly event will take place across the two days from 10am-6pm. HullBID is very excited for this year’s festival, following the success of the popular Hull Street Food Nights evenings that they have organised for summer 2017.

“Hull Street Food Nights have been an excellent way to bring people into the city after work, instead of them heading home and forgetting about the fantastic food and drink options available in Hull,” Catherine expands.

The main Yum! Emporium will be filled with locally-sourced produce from across Yorkshire. There will be an assortment of freshly-baked pies, speciality cheeses, unique blends of whole leaf tea and indulgent cakes and pastries to take home.

Meanwhile, cuisine from across the globe will be sold in the street food market. Local favourites such as KerbEdge, Shoot the Bull, Tapasya and Go Dutch Pancake House will be on the menu.

Live music and craft beers can also be enjoyed throughout the day. The bar is conveniently located next to the children’s area so that parents can relax and watch their kids play.

“We have all sorts on offer. Face painting, cupcake decorating from Sugar ‘n’ Spice Cakes, cookery classes from the Food Dudes, a magician and crazy golf will all be free for little ones to take part in. This year, we’ve added giant garden games, such as Jenga and Connect Four.”

Surrounding businesses are also putting on special Yum! offers, including Bob Carver’s, The Tea Shop in Trinity Market, Kaspa’s Desserts and Liquid Jade.

“Yum! is great because it brings people into Hull. It’s ideal for the summer holidays as it gives kids something different to do. HullBID wants it to be a boost for all of our city centre businesses,” Catherine tells us.

Yum! Festival of Food and Drink takes place at Queen’s Gardens today and tomorrow from 10am until 5pm. For more information, please visit the Yum! website.
