Influential members of the world’s tourism industry are in Hull today to see what the city has to offer visitors.

Teams from VisitBritain will be in the area for the weekend looking at the city’s museums and areas like the Fruit Market and Old Town.

Councillor Steven Bayes, Hull City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Visitor Destination, said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming these leading travel experts to Hull and showing them what we have to offer.

“Following Hull’s recent naming as a place to visit in Rough Guides and The Telegraph, these visits are yet another sign that perceptions of our city are changing.

“These are exciting times for Hull and the challenge now is to ensure that City of Culture and other recent investments deliver a lasting legacy for the people of Hull.”

Following the visit, it’s hoped the experiences will be reflected in future publications.
