A man is accused of raping a teenager in a van while helping her mum to move house in Hull.

Grant Carnegie, 47, asked the alleged victim to show him the way from a property in the east of the city one in the north.

Hull Crown Court heard that instead of turning left on the roundabout at the end of Raich Carter Way, he turned right towards Dunswell and pulled over in a quiet lane, where the incident then took place in 2011.

Mr Carnegie got out of the van to go to the toilet. He then opened the passenger door and told the 19-year-old to take her seatbelt off. She initially refused but eventually complied when he insisted.

The jury was told how he dragged her across the front seats before raping her.

Mr Carnegie, who denies raping the woman, was reportedly shaking his head and blaming her for giving him wrong directions when they finally arrived at her mother’s new home. The trial at Hull Crown Court continues.
