Tucked away on Newland Avenue, Tessies has quickly become one of Hull’s trendiest boutiques.

Having opened in 2009, the clothes and jewellery shop prides itself on promoting female empowerment and fashion inclusivity.

We popped in with our model Charley Lucy, who runs style-focused blog charleylucy.com, to find out what their top picks are for this season.

“First up we’ve paired this dusky lavender top [above] with a patterned skirt to create a 90s, Clueless-inspired outfit,” explains Anna, Tessies’ buyer and assistant.

“I like the way that the lilac in the skirt is brought out by the wrap top,” Nicola the owner adds.

Continuing the colour theme, Charley pops out of the changing room in an embroidered slinky slip number.

“This dress incorporates five key trends this season,” explains Anna. “Velvet, 90s, floral, embroidery and the dusky pink.”

“This has to be my favourite so far,” gushes Charley, our model for the day.

The silky burgundy playsuit creates a playful yet smart look. “It’s perfect for a Valentine’s Day date,” Anna points out.

Next, Charley exits the changing rooms and looks as if she’s just got back from a 70s festival.

“I really like the sleeves on this piece,” she exclaims. The flared design gives it a retro touch, whilst the mixed textures of the bag keep it interesting and modern.

“We hand-make all of our chokers,” Nicola tells us. “I hope they never go out of style because I love them so much.”

From twentieth-century style to Gothic vibes, this black satin jumpsuit is striking, yet classic.

“It’d be fantastic to wear on a girls’ night out,” Anna suggests. “You can also fit a lot in that silver bag, which is fabulous when you want to take a spare pair of flats with you!”
