With only a few weeks left to go before the doors open to the first Cottingham Beer & Cider festival, festival organisers are expecting big things for the regions newest festival which takes place 20-21 March at the refurbished Lawns Centre.

The festival boasts two firsts for the region with it being the first full scale beer festival in Cottingham and the first beer festival with Hull University. The festival is open to both students and the general public and will showcase some of the regions finest ales, there will be hot and cold food from the new Lawns Café and some amazing local bands that will be playing throughout the festival.

Paul East from the Beer Festival said;

“We have been looking at creating a festival in Cottingham for some time but finding the right venue was proving a little difficult. However when the new Lawns Centre was suggested to us we couldn’t believe what an ideal spot this was.

“The venue offers huge potential to allow the festival to grow and become a firm favorite on the local ale festival circuit.

“We have got some cracking beers and ciders lined up for punters to try. Real ale continues to be the drink of choice for many these days and there has been a huge shift especially with student drinkers now opting for a more quality pint, so this is going to be an excellent opportunity for everyone to try something new.”

 Alex Thomson, Lawns Centre Manager at the University of Hull, said:

“We’re delighted to be hosting the first Cottingham beer and cider festival at the Lawns Centre. We’re looking forward to welcoming the local community to our recently refurbished facilities. For many people, it will be the first time they’ve visited us and we hope that they enjoy seeing what’s on offer here as well as enjoying a wonderful event.”

The beer festival follows a similar format to other ale festivals with doors opening on the Friday night at 6.00pm and last orders at 11.00pm. It opens again on the Saturday at 12 noon and last orders again are at 11.00pm.

Both the Friday and Saturday Night sessions are ticketed and the Saturday afternoon is just pay on the door. Organisers are limiting entry to 250 each night so are strongly recommending people buy their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are available from the Lawns Centre reception, Beverley Tourist Information and online –

The First Cottingham Beer & Cider Festival is being sponsored by 65 cars Limited. Along with offering a great service to the City 65 Cars will be on hand for festival goers who need to book a cab to get to and from the festival.
