At 200 Newland Avenue you’ll find a lovely coffee shop that’s well worth a visit.

Despite being called Just Desserts and Coffee, this quirky and welcoming place serves all kinds of delicious meals.

We often pop in for breakfast, with the team quickly whipping up a Full English that really hits the spot.

Also on the menu is a variety of savoury options, such as rolls, bagels, soups, and other occasional additions such as lasagne and nibble boards.

However, what really gets our attention each time we visit is the incredible range of desserts on offer. All homemade and as imaginative as they are mouthwatering, you really will find it difficult to choose.

For example, you might go for Nutella cheesecake or summer berry chocolate pot, both pictured above. Or perhaps you’ll go classic and opt for a freshly baked scone with fruity jam and divine Chantilly cream.

We won’t list every dessert that you might find during your visit, as that would take all day.

Rest assured that new ideas pop up all of the time, with Just specialising in cheesecakes topped with everything from Twirl and M&Ms to Creme Egg and entire Jaffa Cakes.

Chances are you’ll also find a vegan or gluten free option too, depending on availability.

As for the atmosphere, Just is a wonderfully quiet haven on the bustling avenue. With dozens of mirrors covering the attractive brick walls, wooden shelves presenting countless teas, and a waffle iron that fills the air with delightful aromas, you really must pop down.

It’s also child and dog friendly, making it ideal for families and those who like to take their pooch everywhere they go. Plus the outdoor seating area is great during summer weather, giving you the opportunity to people-watch or enjoy a good book.

What really sets Just aside, however, is the genuinely warm and friendly welcome you receive every time. Family-run and passionate about the local community, each member of the team is smiley and helpful, making it a very pleasant place for a cuppa.

Due to its location, Just is also a great stop during a shopping trip. With independent traders, boutiques and restaurants lining the street, it’s very easy to make a day of it down Newland Avenue, making sure to grab a luxurious slice of cake along the way.

And then of course there’s the coffee, which we’ve saved till last. From the popular Americano, cappuccino and mocha, to real treats such as affogato, which is a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream drowned in espresso, the menu board has plenty to choose from.

Not in the mood for a hot beverage? Don’t worry, there are also plenty of cold drinks, including refreshing frappes, iced lattes, iced teas and fruit smoothies. Whilst there we spotted a sticky toffee frappe, which looked absolutely amazing. (We still regret not ordering one.)

So the next time you’re down Newland Avenue, pay a visit to Just. They’re open Monday 10am-4pm and Tuesday-Sunday 9:30am-5pm.
