A man has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years after being found guilty of murdering his fiancee at their home in Withernsea.

Tony Jobling, 51, denied murdering 42-year-old Petra Atkinson by stabbing her in the neck at their Heather Avenue home on September 6 last year.

But following a two-day trial at Sheffield Crown Court a jury found him guilty of murder after two-and-a-half hours of deliberation.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Wendy North said: “Petra Atkinson suffered horrific injuries at the hand of her fiancée Tony Jobling. He then, with calculated foresight injured himself using the same weapon he had attacked Petra with in order to fabricate a false defence.
