Organisers of the Tour de Yorkshire have revealed start and finish times for the much-anticipated event.

The inaugural race will be spread over three days between May 1-3 and is expected to attract thousands of spectators following a series of picturesque routes around the region.

Stage one from Bridlington to Scarborough will involve a ceremonial start at 11.45am on South Marine Drive outside the Bridlington Spa, before the official race start at Sewerby gets underway at 12pm.

It is expected to finish between 4pm and 4.30pm on Royal Albert Drive in Scarborough.

Stage two will begin at 11.20am outside Selby Abbey and finish between 3.30pm and 4pm on Knavesmire Road in York, while the final stage will start at 12.15pm outside Wakefield Cathedral and end between 4.30pm and 5pm at Roundhay Park in Leeds.

Fans and spectators can look forward to 310 miles of racing through Yorkshire over the three-day period.

Tour de Yorkshire hopes to build on the success of the Tour de France when millions of people watched the Grand Départ over two days in Yorkshire last July.
