Amateur cyclists will be able to join in the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire by taking part in a ” ” which will lead them along the same roads as the professionals.

Those taking part can choose between a 50km, 108km or 140km route, with a Cycletta – a women-only event – also taking place along the shortest route.

The sportive is to be held on the same day and along the same roads as the final Tour de Yorkshire stage, on Sunday May 3.

Participants will set off a few hours before the main event gets under way and will cross the same finish line as the professional cyclists.

Those who opt for the longest route will set off at Roundhay Park in Leeds and head towards Bingley, Halifax and Sowerby Bridge before heading to Hebden Bridge.

They will then head through Haworth – best known for its links to the Bronte sisters – before continuing on to Addingham and Ilkley and returning to Leeds.

The Tour de Yorkshire will be organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation, which is the group behind the Tour de France.
