Tragic car crash claims life

An older woman lost her life in a car accident in East Yorkshire on Tuesday, Humberside Police have confirmed.

The 88-year-old lady was a passenger in a blue Peugeot 106 that was in a fatal collision with another car, a black Vauxhall Astra.

The crash happened on the B1242 between the villages of Skipsea and Atwick at 1.20pm. She died at the scene from her injuries.

The driver of the Peugeot, a man also aged 88, suffered serious injuries but they are not thought to be life threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The other car involved in the crash had four people in it. The driver and front seat passenger were not hurt but two people in the back seat – a man and a woman – both 66, suffered minor injuries.

Humberside Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the collisions. Witnesses should call 101 mentioning log 169 on 21/4/15.
