Hull Street Food Christmas Nights promises scrumptious food from local traders with all the trimmings.

HullBID’s foodie-focused evenings have proved extremely popular this year, attracting on average 10,000 hungry punters at each event. Tonight and tomorrow, Zebedee’s Yard is to be transformed into a festive haven full of indulgent nibbles and delights.

“Expect some of your favourite traders, who have all put an exciting Christmas twist on their already mouth-watering menus,” explains Catherine Goble, Marketing & Events Co-ordinator at HullBID. “Think pigs in blankets and Yorkshire pudding wraps with a full Christmas dinner stuffed inside.”

On top of this, street performers, a traditional brass band, jugglers and a unicyclist will provide the Yuletide entertainment, and be prepared to embrace the glitter in the face painting tent.

“We’re expecting a lot of people, so we’ve stretched the event across two nights, tonight and tomorrow. Even at our last event, when it was pouring down with rain, a few thousand people turned up for their fill.”

The night seamlessly ties in with the other merry antics that are taking place across Hull City Centre. Christmas on Humber Street, which continues to transform the Fruit Market area into a winter wonderland every weekend in the run-up to the 25th, has also been a big hit so far. Meanwhile, the food in Zebedee’s Yard will be a welcome pitstop for late-night shoppers.

“It’s a really good all-rounder that caters for both families and the after-work crowd. We originally designed this event to encourage people to stay in the city after work and to sample some of what was on offer, and I think we’ve achieved this,” Catherine enthuses.

“Hull Street Food Nights was HullBID’s contribution to the City of Culture effect and I think it has given those who are attending Hull 2017 events a chance to grab a bite before heading down to a show or a concert.”

The event has been so loved by the people of Hull that it had to move to a bigger space after its first opening: “We originally hosted it outside Hull Minster; however, due to the sheer number of people, we moved it to Zebedee’s Yard. It still spills out onto Princes Dock Street.”

The main question is whether we will see Hull Street Food Nights after 2017 is over:

“Yes, you certainly will! We have some dates pencilled in and we’re hoping to start back up in April again when the weather is a bit warmer.”

Yum, we can’t wait! Meanwhile, you can grab a bite at Hull Street Food Christmas Nights from 4pm-9pm tonight and Friday. For more information, please visit the HullBID website.
