Cycling fans will have the chance to win one of 40 unique bikes that have been specially made by Yorkshire metal suppliers Metals4U to celebrate the first ever Tour de Yorkshire.

The yellow bikes, which are 60cm high, 100cm wide, have been designed for people to display outside their homes or offices during the three-day event.

Enthusiasts are being encouraged to explain what they love most about Yorkshire on social media using the hashtag #Metals4Ubikes to be in with a chance of winning one of these unique mementos.

Paul, Director at Metals4U, said: “We wanted to create an iconic symbol, for the fans, that would celebrate the fact that world cycling is returning to Yorkshire in the form of a completely new and exciting event.

“We felt it was important to not just create an icon that represented the occasion but also to encourage people to celebrate our county in way that could spread the feel-good factor across social media ahead of the race.”

Metals4U will be tracking entries and picking 40 winners by Friday 24 April

Paul added: “Once we’ve selected the winners we’ll be sending them the bikes, which they’ll be able to put on display. They’ll also have a fantastic keepsake of what is the first event of its kind.”

The Tour de Yorkshire, which runs from 1-3 May, will see some of the sport’s top professionals including Bradley Wiggins compete over 310 miles of roads across Yorkshire, taking in places such as Bridlington, Scarborough, Selby, York, Wakefield and Leeds.

Organisers Welcome to Yorkshire and Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) are anticipating around one million people to watch the race along the routes, with many more watching the competition on TV.
