Walkers are being urged not to stray too close to cliff edges after a man fell thirty feet in Hornsea.

The town’s Inshore Rescue team were the first to respond after the 20-year-old got into difficulties on Sunday.

Rescue service chairman Sue Hickson-Marsay says people shouldn’t underestimate the dangers: “There are cracks that go back at the top of the cliffs. They’re uneven and slippery, so he’s obviously lost his footing. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone to walk too near the cliff edge.

“It was a beautiful day on Sunday, but again it didn’t take away how dangerous the cliffs are and because of the coastal erosion, the cliffs are moving and they can drop down at anytime. So don’t go too close to the cliffs at the top or at the bottom.”
