Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 71-year-old Scarborough woman was killed in a road accident in East Yorkshire.

And officers from Humberside Police want to speak to anyone with information about another road accident, which claimed the life of a 76-year-old man.

The first accident involved a collision between a Peugeot 308 and a Kia Sorrento on the B1249 at Langtoft near Driffield at around 4.30pm on October 27.

The incident also left a 75-year-old man from Scarborough, who was driving the Peugeot, with what were described as non life-threatening injuries and the Kia driver with a number of fractures.

The other accident, which happened less than three hours later, involved a collision between a Honda Jazz and a VW Golf. It happened on Vicarage Road at Wrawby near Brigg – close to the road’s junction with the A18 – at about 7.15pm.

The driver of the Honda, a man of 76 from Wrawby, was killed in the accident. The 35-year-old VW driver was not injured.
