The East Riding village of Flamborough got a taste of Hollywood after film star Catherine Zeta-Jones was spotted shooting her latest movie.

The Yorkshire Post reported that the actress, who was in the sea off Bridlington’s North Landing, was filming scenes for the movie remake of classic sitcom Dad’s Army.

She’s one of a number of big name stars who will appear in the film including Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon and Sarah Lancashire. Toby Jones takes on the part of the diminutive Home Guard company commander, Captain Mainwaring.

While the film is set in a made-up coastal town in East Sussex, filming is taking place in East Yorkshire. Bempton’s 300ft cliffs are masquerading as the White Cliffs of Dover and Bridlington High Street will play the part of the fictional Walmington-on-Sea.

Ms Zeta-Jones stars in the film as a visiting journalist sent to follow the Home Guard as they lead the hunt for a German spy.
