If you’re like me, your mouth has far more than just one sweet tooth. So whilst you can get a pudding from pretty much anywhere that serves food, Caffe Gelato is the place to go when you want to make it a real occasion.

Located at 92 Newland Avenue, this fantastic dessert restaurant celebrates the Italian gelato. Similar to ice cream, gelato is churned at a much slower rate, incorporating less air and making it denser. It’s served ever so slightly warmer than ice cream too and has a wonderfully silky texture, which helps the taste to shine through. There are dozens of flavours available at Caffe Gelato, with some of my personal favourites being bubblegum, Nutella and honeycomb, especially when stacked one on top of the other in a crispy cone. (Someone said to me that grown men shouldn’t eat blue food, but if you ask me that just shows they’re not making the most of adulthood.)

Aside from gelato, this bright, welcoming and family-friendly place also offers a range of desserts, including homemade baklava, as well as savoury dishes and light bites. If you’re feeling daring I recommend trying a Turkish coffee, which is the strongest, grainiest beverage you’ll ever drink. If that’s not your thing, the menu includes more familiar coffee options, a selection of teas, cold drinks and, as you might expect, creamy milkshakes.

Caffe Gelato is perfect when you fancy treating yourself to something yummy. Boasting all the colours of the rainbow, bunting, smart surroundings and cheerful staff, it really is a joy to visit.
