Sleepers in Beverley

Beverley is a beautiful place for a day out, especially when it includes a meal and a cheeky drink. With a variety of great eateries to choose from, I recommend you make time for Sleepers on the corner of Norwood and Manor Road, a striking bar and restaurant that catches the eye from across the street.

If you’ve been to the original Sleepers down Newland Avenue, you’ll feel at home the moment you walk through the door thanks to similar visual elements. However, the owners have very much given Sleepers Beverley its own character and ambience, with uber-stylish surroundings blending perfectly with luxurious furnishings and warm lighting. Every square inch offers a texture, colour or finishing touch that demands attention, and the layout is designed around equal parts comfort, elegance and sophistication.

General Manager David Christian made us feel very welcome throughout our visit and the kitchen team were happy to cater to dietary requirements. The ambience throughout was relaxed yet full of life, which perfectly complemented the top-notch food. (You can view the full menu on their website.)

Before leaving, we were told that the Metropolis motif (below) pays tribute to the Regal Cinema, which stood on the site from 1935 until 1968, with the current building, Regal Court, constructed in 1998. When you visit, take a look around and you’ll spot numerous old movie posters, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to an awesome Batman/Joker design, and now you know why.

Whether it’s for a night out or a light lunch, I strongly suggest you make Sleepers Beverley your destination. We were lucky enough to get a table when we popped in but it’s recommended that you make a reservation by calling 01482 864555. You can also follow Sleepers Bar Beverley on Facebook and Sleepers Bar on Twitter.
