I was taken as a plus-one to see a musical with a friend. Excited by the fact that I had not been to a show in forever, I could not wait to find out what it was all about. I also did not look into what I was going to see, wanting to leave it all a surprise, which could have gone very badly; thankfully, it didn’t.

Urinetown is a brilliant show and I loved it from beginning to end. It is filled with wit, laughter and emotion, which takes you on a journey exploring how the human race can react under extreme times of pressure, and how that makes us as people feel and also behave. There is constant humour throughout the show, keeping you feeling very involved.

Despite my slight confusion at the beginning, I quickly began to follow the aim of the storyline and the point it was making to its audience. The singing abilities from all of the cast in this musical are outstanding; everyone has such amazing voices, in particular Callum Mathers, who plays leading role Bobby Strong, the courageous young man willing to make a stand and fight for what he believes in. I was incredibly taken aback by everyone’s vocal abilities; inevitably, this and the storyline made the show for me.

Urinetown is a show I would without a doubt see again. The amount of hard work that has gone into the production is obvious, especially the acting abilities and the quality of singing. It was a truly enjoyable experience and I loved every moment of it, so make sure to get your tickets whilst they’re still available.
