Midfielder Andres Iniesta believes Barcelona’s intensity was the key in defeating Paris St Germain and earning their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Barca reached the last four for the seventh time in eight years after brushing aside PSG 2-0 at the Nou Camp thanks to two first-half Neymar goals to claim a 5-1 aggregate victory.

“We’re happy to have qualified, another semi-final. It’s been a great day for everyone,” Iniesta told as.com.

“The game wasn’t easy but we approached it well. We showed intensity and we were very professional.

“It’s not that it’s hard having the (first leg) result in your favour, but it can make you more relaxed and that can sometimes be dangerous. Sometimes games can become difficult and contain surprises.”

However, despite his belief that Barca are continuing to improve as the season goes on, the 30-year-old was keen to shrug off the favourites tag.

Bayern Munich booked their last four place with a 6-1 win over Porto on Tuesday – which gave them a 7-4 aggregate win – while Monaco are still to face Juventus in their quarter-final second leg clash and last year’s winners Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid.

“We’re going into them (the semi-finals) in good shape,” Iniesta said. “We’ve got better as the season’s gone on, as it should be, and the results give you the confidence to keep going.

“We’re in good form, but small details will decide things. It’s hard to talk about favourites in semi-finals with the teams there are. We need to try and keep doing what we’re doing.”

Neymar, who opened the scoring in Paris and was again on the scoresheet against PSG at the Nou Camp, is keen not to look too far ahead despite being within touching distance of the final, which takes place in Berlin on June 6.

“We did what we did in Paris, played and scored. We took steps forward and it was a good game,” Neymar told as.com.

“I’m very happy with the season I’m having and we need to carry on like this to achieve our goals.

“What we need to do is keep advancing and reach the final. Iniesta, for my first goal, did it all. I just had to dribble round the keeper and score.”

When asked if it was the best Barcelona performance so far this season, Neymar added: “I think so, we’re having a great moment, in the Champions League, the Liga, everything. We have to keep going like this.”
